Cultive
Your culture, active.

Overview
What it is
Cultive is a real product built around a simple question from the pitch: how do you help people stay physically active while reconnecting with the culture around them?
The answer was a neighborhood discovery app that recommends cultural activities close enough to reach through a short walk. The goal was not fitness for its own sake and not local discovery on its own, but the combination of both into one healthier routine.
What problem it addresses
The pitch frames the problem through the idea of cultural health. After the pandemic, people still wanted to move more and reconnect with nearby experiences, but many of the easy routines that used to support that habit had been disrupted.
Two research points in the presentation shaped the case:
58%of people aged 16 to 24 intended to exercise more after quarantine policies ended- interest in nearby cultural activities that do not require transportation had increased by
68%
Cultive responds to that gap by focusing on activities that are both culturally enriching and reachable through light physical effort.
How the product works
The pitch describes a straightforward flow. The app starts with onboarding, asks about the activities the user already does most often, and then takes them to a home screen with two sections:
- nearby places
- curated collections of activities organized as circuits
Once a user picks a destination, the session view shows the key information needed to start moving: distance, estimated time, and calories. During the walk, the app displays performance metrics, map directions, and the list of cultural activities available at the destination. When the session ends, the user gets a summary and can review recent exercises from the home screen.
Why I like the concept
What makes Cultive interesting is that it avoids the usual split between wellness apps and city discovery products. It treats local culture as part of a healthier routine instead of as a separate category of leisure.
That combination gave the product a clear point of view: help residents discover their own neighborhood, walk more often, and build a habit that supports physical, mental, and cultural well-being at the same time.
